Pooja-Mrunal’s Glam Treat Beats Jhanvi’s Peddi

When two films are hitting simultaneously at the box office, it's natural that there would be some comparisons. However, while Ram Charan is a much bigger star than Varun Dhawan, as their respective films Peddi and Jawani Hai Tho Ishq Hona Hai have hit cinemas on June 4th and June 5th. More than the heroes, however, it has become the glamorous fight between heroines like Janhvi Kapoor, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur this week, at the Bollywood box office.

On Day 1, Peddi collected ₹5 crores from Bollywood on Thursday, and that’s very low for a film featuring a global star like Ram Charan. Despite Janhvi Kapoor’s stunning glamour in the movie, it looks like the film hasn’t gotten enough buzz in the North hinterlands. But now, Jawaani Hai Tho Ishq Hona Hai, where Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur’s glam treat became a talking point, is likely to collect ₹7 crores nett on Day 1. That means, two struggling hotties have together beaten a happening diva like Janhvi big time.

However, all three hotties enjoy a terrific following on social media. While Pooja Hegde has 27 million followers, Janhvi Kapoor has 26 million, and Mrunal Thakur has 16 million followers on Instagram. But the success of these films also proves that Instagram following doesn’t turn into a film’s success.
