Pooja Hegde Opens Up About ‘Retro’ Shoot Struggles After One Year

Actress Pooja Hegde recently looked back at her experience while working on the film Retro, which has now completed one year since its release. The romantic drama starred Suriya in the lead role and was directed by Karthik Subbaraj.

To celebrate the film’s anniversary, Pooja shared special memories from the shoot on her social media. She posted several photos and short videos showing moments from the set. In those posts, she also revealed some difficult situations the team faced while filming.

The actress said that the shoot was full of unexpected challenges. There were strong storms, thick mud, and even a scary moment when their boat caught fire. She also mentioned that she suffered a ligament tear during the shoot. In addition, the team had to work on an island where snakes were present, which made the situation even more intense.

Even though all these incidents sound stressful, Pooja described the experience as “peaceful chaos.” She explained that, from the outside, everything looked very difficult and dangerous. However, on the inside, the atmosphere was calm and positive. The team stayed strong and continued their work with dedication.

Pooja also shared that the set was filled with laughter and good energy. According to her, everyone was focused on making a good film, and they supported each other during tough times. She believed that when people work together with passion, even hard days can feel easy.

The actress thanked director Karthik Subbaraj for trusting her with the role of Rukmini. She also appreciated Suriya for his constant support during the project. She said working with the right team made a big difference in handling challenges.

On the work front, Pooja Hegde is now preparing for her next Hindi film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The movie is directed by David Dhawan and features Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur in key roles. The film is expected to release on June 5, 2026.
