'Prabhas' upcoming movie, 'Salaar', is all set to hit theaters on December 22 in multiple languages. It will clash with Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Dunki'. As the release date of 'Salaar' approaches, there have been rumors suggesting it might be a remake of the Kannada movie 'Ugramm', directed by Prashanth Neel in 2014. This speculation has sparked interest in whether 'Salaar' is indeed a remake of 'Ugramm' or not.

During a recent interview, Prashanth Neel talked about his vision for 'Salaar', aiming for it to achieve the success similar to that of 'KGF'. He clarified that 'Salaar' is not a direct remake but rather an adaptation, making substantial changes to fit Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Despite the expectations of criticism for following 'Ugramm's' story essence with the cinematic style of 'KGF', Prasanth Neel marked it as a compliment, viewing both films as his creations, meticulously crafting their worlds and characters.

Meanwhile, Salaar is set in the fictional city of Khansaar and revolves around two friends Deva and Vardha, played by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, who end up becoming arch rivals. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film also stars Shruti Haasan.
