Success isn’t always scripted it sometimes rises from the ashes of abandoned dreams. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who just roared past ₹100 crore with The Goat Life, didn’t just stumble into direction; he seized it. And in doing so, he gave Malayalam cinema one of its biggest blockbusters Lucifer. Now, he’s ready to reignite the fire with L2: Empuraan, hitting screens on March 27.
But Lucifer wasn’t always his to tell. The project was first conceived in 2012 by Rajesh Pillai and Murali Gopy for Mohanlal, backed by Antony Perumbavoor. However, fate had other plans delays, scheduling conflicts, and eventually, Pillai’s untimely passing in 2016, left the film unrealized. Years later, Murali Gopy dusted off the title, but this time, it was Prithviraj who took the director’s chair, crafting an all-new story that would go on to redefine his career.
Now, the hype for L2: Empuraan is through the roof, with its pre-release business already soaring past ₹50 crore worldwide. The stakes are higher, the scale is grander, and with Mohanlal returning as the enigmatic Stephen Nedumpally, fans are bracing for another game-changing spectacle.
Some actors chase roles. Prithviraj chased stories. And in the process, he built a legacy that now stands taller than ever. With L2: Empuraan on the horizon, one thing’s certain this is not just a sequel. It’s a statement!
