When an actor gets a chance to work with SS Rajamouli, it is usually a very big commitment. Rajamouli’s films are made on a huge scale and often take a long time to complete. Because of this, actors generally prefer to focus only on his project and avoid doing other films at the same time.

We have seen this with stars like Prabhas and Ram Charan. During their films with Rajamouli, they largely stayed committed to those projects. So, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s decision to do another major film while being part of Varanasi has naturally created curiosity.

Prithviraj is playing an important role in Rajamouli’s Varanasi, which stars Mahesh Babu. Reports suggest that he will be seen as the antagonist. However, while Varanasi is still a major commitment, Prithviraj has also agreed to act in Meghna Gulzar’s crime thriller Daayra.

Interestingly, Prithviraj has explained how he ended up accepting the film. When Meghna first approached him, he was actually planning to politely say no. He already had Varanasi and several Malayalam projects in his schedule. Still, he decided to meet Meghna because he felt that any actor would want to listen to a story narrated by a filmmaker like her.

After hearing the story, Prithviraj was impressed. He then asked who would play the female lead. When Meghna said that she was hoping to cast Kareena Kapoor Khan, Prithviraj jokingly suggested that this was when he knew he had to say yes.

His comment has now added an interesting twist to the story. Kareena may have given him the final push, but the story and Meghna’s narration were clearly the main reasons for his decision.

However, another question remains unanswered: Did Prithviraj keep a special condition before agreeing to continue with Varanasi?

Usually, Rajamouli expects his actors to give their complete attention to his films. So how did Prithviraj manage to adjust Daayra between his Varanasi schedule and Malayalam commitments? Did he request specific dates from Rajamouli? Did Rajamouli make an exception for him? Or was the entire schedule planned in a way that allowed Prithviraj to do both films?

There is no official answer to these questions yet. But the situation is certainly unusual and has made fans curious about how the two projects are being managed.

Meanwhile, Daayra is scheduled to release on September 18. Varanasi, with Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli, continues to be one of the most eagerly awaited projects.
