Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan has showered praise on Balan – The Boy, calling it the finest film he has seen in the past two years. Backed by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, the thriller is directed by Chidambaram, known for Manjummel Boys, and written by Jithu Madhavan of Aavesham fame.
Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn, the film is set for a multilingual release in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil on June 19.
Speaking during an interaction with the team, Priyadarshan expressed immense admiration for the project, predicting that Balan: The Boy would earn a permanent place among Malayalam cinema’s greatest achievements. He credited the film’s success to the collective effort of the cast and crew while emphasizing the strength of its screenplay, which he described as the foundation of the film.
According to the celebrated director, the movie came together organically, with every department contributing significantly under Chidambaram’s leadership. The thriller recently cleared censorship, with reports suggesting that the examining board appreciated both its execution and overall presentation.
Combining relatable emotions, gripping suspense, and strong cultural roots, Balan: The Boy has already generated considerable international interest. Adding further momentum to its release, Annapurna Studios will distribute the film across the Telugu-speaking regions, expanding its reach among audiences ahead of its theatrical debut.
