One of the senior most producers in Telugu cinema, Dil Raju had a very interesting series of comments to make regarding the method of operation in the film industry. He pointed out that there is no value that is being paid to producers these days.

Producer has no value today, says Dil Raju , reflecting the growing imbalance in the film industry. According to him, a producer is the one who gives. Everyone else takes. Yet today, those who take are in a position to dictate terms to the one who gives.

A producer invests money, believes in a story, and takes the biggest financial risk. He brings together the director, hero, technicians, and the entire crew. He ensures salaries are paid, schedules are managed, and the film is completed. Without the producer, a project does not even begin. However, once the film is ready, the power equation shifts.

Actors, directors, and even distributors often command strong control over budgets, release terms, and profits. Remunerations are fixed and protected, but the producer carries the uncertainty. If the film fails, the losses fall mainly on him. If it succeeds, profits are divided among many stakeholders.

Dil Raju’s statement highlights a deeper concern about respect and balance in the industry. The person who shoulders the maximum risk should ideally have equal authority and value.

His remarks underline the need to restore dignity and decision making power to producers in today’s cinema ecosystem.
