P Vasu Churns Out 5 Films With 1 Story!
He is P Vasu who is unable to find success with the one story he has been making again and again with different cast.
Puri Jagannath often faces criticism for making movies with a mafia backdrop always. Trivikram faces heat for making similar family entertainers all the time. There is a talk that Sekhar Kammula doesn't want to step out of his comfort zone and Boyapati Sreenu's films are always in the same mold. While none of these are a problem as long as the movies are successful. But there is one director who has been making various films over the past two decades with the same story.
He is P Vasu who is unable to find success with the one story he has been making again and again with different cast. He looked at the Malayalam super hit 'Manichitrathazhu' which came in 1993. Other language people did not know a lot about Malayalam movies back then and he took the story of this movie and made 'Apthamitra' in Kannada. He copied it scene by scene and scored a blockbuster.
P Vasu already worked with Rajnikanth before and he convinced the superstar once again for 'Chandramukhi' which is a remake of his 'Apthamitra'. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster in Telugu and Tamil. He should have left that story when he was on a high but he made 'Apthamitra – 2' in Kannada. There is no difference in the story compared to the first film but he changed the cast members. It worked decently at the box office and the movie was remade in Telugu by P Vasu as 'Nagavalli' starring Venkatesh and Anushka Shetty. It was a big failure in Telugu.
P Vasu decided to rehash the same story once again in 2023. He made 'Chandramukhi 2' with Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut. It was dubbed and released in Telugu as well. It was rejected outright in both the languages. People are bashing the director for making the same story again and again. The reviews are very bad and the audience are criticising the film a lot. One wonders why the director is trying to push the same story time and again even if it is not working anymore.
