These days it’s a bit funny to watch how heroines talk. When they’re scoring hits, they say Tollywood is the best place to work. When the films flop, suddenly they call it “too commercial.” Raashi Khanna has now joined that list. She’s been having a rough run in Telugu, and even Telusu Kada didn’t help. During a recent interview, she casually opened up about why she’s shifting more towards Hindi films and what kind of roles she’s actually comfortable doing.
Raashi said, “I’ve done so many commercial films in the South. That’s why I want strong storylines in Hindi. I like commercial films, but only till a point. I need to be comfortable with the role. If something crosses my personal limits or makes me feel odd, I’ll say no. Everyone has a comfort zone, so don’t judge anyone.” And just like that, her comments flew all over social media, with people pulling out their own interpretations as usual.
The irony is that Tollywood has given some solid story-heavy films like RRR, Baahubali and many others, but whenever a movie flops, the “commercial cinema” excuse pops up again. Even her recent Hindi attempt 120 Bahadur, which had a serious war backdrop, didn’t work in theatres. Now she has Ustad Bhagat Singh coming up in Telugu. Let’s see if this film finally stops the streak or adds one more to the list.
