The recent comments by Bollywood actress Radhika Apte about Telugu cinema have started another discussion about the North South film industry divide. Instead of celebrating Indian cinema as one industry, actresses from different regions seem to be getting involved in arguments about each other's films.

Radhika Apte recently spoke about her experience working in Telugu cinema. She said she had to play a character who married her cousin and was paired opposite a much older hero. She also mentioned that her character died halfway through the film.

Her comments have raised questions among Telugu movie fans. If she had problems with the story and her character then why did she agree to act in the film. She had the option to reject the project before signing it.

Radhika has also spoken about casting choices in Telugu cinema and the preference for fair-skinned actresses. At the same time, some Telugu actresses working in Bollywood have spoken in support of South Indian cinema. They have highlighted the talent, stories and opportunities available in the South. Some have also openly compared the working styles of the two industries.

This has created an interesting situation. When a Telugu actress speaks about South cinema, she is sometimes seen as supporting her own industry. But when a Bollywood actress talks about Telugu films, her comments can be viewed as criticism of the entire South.

The problem is not about whether an actress belongs to the North or the South. Every actor has the right to share their experiences and point out problems. Both industries have good films as well as films that deserve criticism.

However repeatedly targeting one film industry can create unnecessary negativity. Telugu cinema has given opportunities to many Bollywood actresses, just as Bollywood has welcomed actors from the South.

Instead of making North versus South comparisons, actresses should focus on the specific issues they faced. One film or one experience cannot represent an entire industry.

Indian cinema is growing across languages. Telugu films are reaching Hindi audiences, while Bollywood films are finding viewers in the South. At a time when filmmakers and actors are working together across industries, these repeated arguments only create divisions among fans.

North or South, cinema belongs to everyone. Supporting one industry should not mean insulting another for heriones. So either it is Radhika Apte or some other, they have to take notice of this.
