The pre-recorded interviews of Superstar Mahesh, Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and legendary filmmaker SS Rajamouli, by Hollywood’s popular hosts, to promote their upcoming film “Varanasi” are finally out. Surely the revelations have stunned the fans, and also the movie world is excited, waiting to see what Rajamouli is coming up with this time.

At this juncture, the thing most heard is about the OTT deal sealed by Netflix to acquire the global streaming rights of Varanasi, in all languages. Rumours have it that the OTT deal of Varanasi is priced at more than ₹700 crores, and that set movie folks into discussions. At a time when films made on an Indian scale, like Dhurandhar or Spirit, are clocking around ₹150-200 crores deals from Netflix, will they churn out ₹650-700 crores for Varanasi is the question now.

Analysts say it's possible, due to various factors including Rajamouli’s success rate, Mahesh’s presence, and moreover the presence of a global starlet like Priyanka Chopra, who’s super popular in Los Angeles circuits. However, movie lovers do not believe this and call it only a marketing gimmick. Whatever the deal may be, Rajamouli knows how to get proper PR for his films even before the first look or teaser comes out.
