There were releases like 'Prathinidhi 2', 'Krishnamma' and 'Aarambham' in Telugu. With the elections and IPL also in play, people hardly noticed the arrival of the Hindi film 'Srikanth'. This emotional and inspirational biopic is getting a lot of appreciation. Stellar actor Rajkumar Rao played the title role and it is a proud story of a Telugu person.

The movie is based on a successful businessman Srikanth who is born blind in the Seetaramapuram area of Machilipatnam back in 1992. Tushar Hiranandani directed this film. He worked as a writer for many blockbuster films and became a director with Taapsee's 'Saand Ki Aankh'. He won a lot of praise with his web series 'Scam 2003'.

Going into the story, Srikanth's father names him after his favorite cricketer. He is heartbroken after learning that his child is born blind. But the kid doesn't lose hope and his teacher instils bravery in him which helps him a lot. He meets APJ Abdul Kalam once and says that he wants to become the first blind president which shows his strength. He studies in America and faces many adversities in life thereby ending up as a successful person in life. Jyothika played a crucial role in this movie.

There are a few hiccups in the taking as the required drama in the biopic goes missing. Yet, the journey is highly inspirational and it is Rajkumar Rao's performance that makes your heart melt. He is phenomenal. The drama in biopics like 'MS Dhoni' and 'Mahanati' is nowhere to be seen in 'Srikanth' which works against the film. The crisp runtime is a huge plus point. Though it is a bit slow, the emotions work out well and we need to appreciate the inspirational journey of a Telugu person and the makers who brought it to life on the screen.
