Before the release of the film Raakaasaa, the entire focus was on the producer Niharika Konidela. She was everywhere, leading promotions, giving interviews and pushing the film aggressively on social media. Of course, that kind of engagement helped the film get massive attention, and that promotion resulted in a whopping ₹15+ crores from the box office in the first weekend itself.
However, one key shift is now clearly visible after the release of the film. The spotlight has moved towards the director, Manasa Sharma, who is now being talked about across platforms for the way the film has been handled. At the same time, reels featuring Manasa, and her facial expressions, and calling that as ‘cute’, many Instagram news promoters are pushing her a lot. Also, those reels are going quite viral, too. But here’s something to notice. In all this noise, the heroine seems to be getting sidelined.
If you look at it closely, heroine Nayan Sarika has actually done a decent job in the film. The performance is not being criticised, but at the same time, it is not being discussed enough either. Many are wondering why a heroine is not getting the attention she would get. Otherwise, if the director and producers are all male, surely the heroine would have bagged the spotlight. Now that here everyone is almost female, the Instagram algorithm knows better who is getting viral and how. That’s the unpredictable nature of social media, though!
