Rakul Preet Singh, who once headlined Telugu blockbusters like Dhruva and Sarrainodu, hasn’t done a proper Telugu film in years. Her last was Check with Nithiin, where she played a lawyer in a small role. The film flopped, and that silence from Tollywood hasn’t really broken since. But Rakul says she isn’t chasing it she believes roles can come anytime, and there’s no fixed age or window for a comeback.
After those peak years in Telugu cinema, Rakul shifted her focus to Hindi films. Projects like Doctor G, Runway 34, and now the upcoming De De Pyaar De 2 have kept her busy. She also got married recently to a top Bollywood producer, but that hasn’t slowed her pace. While her Telugu fans may be waiting, she’s still out there picking films she wants to do.
Speaking about the gap, Rakul mentioned that the industry is different now. Female actors are no longer boxed in by age, and as long as you put in honest work, there’s space. She also spoke about being mindful of the kind of stories actors choose, especially since movies reach kids too, not just adults.
No dramatic exit, no big declaration. Just a shift in momentum. For now, Rakul’s off the Telugu radar but that door isn’t closed, and she knows it.
