Felt The Same Excitement Like For RRR, Magadheera: Charan
Ram Charan said that every visit to Chennai feels special because it is not just another promotional destination but his home ground.
Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s Peddi Chennai event saw the presence of the core team, and director Buchi Babu Sana who is already in the city also graced the occasion, this time.
AR Rahman praised Ram Charan for being very humble, disciplined, and at the same time, ambitious like his father Megastar Chiranjeevi. He also spoke highly of Telugu cinema. “Even when they make mass-oriented films, they have remarkable clarity about what they want to achieve. Working on Peddi feels like doing my first film all over again. The song Chikiri became the No 1 track in Mexico and even surpassed several local Mexican songs in popularity.”
Director Buchi Babu revealed his bond with Chennai city, and called Peddi as an emotional film. “While watching the second half, I was amazed by Ram Charan’s performance. For me, Charan is Peddi, and Peddi is Charan. My admiration for Rahman is so immense that I could write an entire book about him. Working with him is truly a dream come true. Rathnavelu has visualized and shot this film on an international scale.
Shivanna’s character was conceived, based on my bond with my mentor Sukumar. Janhvi Kapoor brought a unique vibrancy and charm to the film. I can never forget the support and faith shown by Kilaru Satish. Ram Charan worked incredibly hard for this film, but beyond all the effort, the emotional core of the story stands out even more.”
Ram Charan said that every visit to Chennai feels special because it is not just another promotional destination but his home ground. He fondly recalled growing up in the city and added that Chennai also holds a special place in his heart as it is his mother’s birthplace.
Speaking about Peddi, Charan revealed the immense effort behind the film. “We completed the movie in two and a half years, shooting for around 285 days. But the person who worked the hardest is Buchi. While people often say I worked hard, I never felt it was difficult because I was surrounded by talented people. AR Rahman is the central pillar of this film. We may be four pillars holding up the house, but he stands right at the center. For the last ten days and even beyond that, he has been working tirelessly.
Shivanna is pure energy on screen. The moment he appears, he lights up the screen. I have watched Jailer many times, especially for his character. Even on a small screen while traveling, his scenes give you an instant thrill. His style, expressions, and screen presence are simply iconic. He is one of my favorites, and I feel blessed to have shared the stage with him and worked with him in two films. Divyendu is amazing. Even in real life, he carries the attitude of a gangster. I would also like to thank producer Satish Kilaru. This is his first production, and his support means a lot.
My friends told me that the film would definitely become a success because whenever I come home and keep talking endlessly about a film, it usually turns out to be a hit. They saw the same excitement during films like RRR, Rangasthalam, and Magadheera. After a long time, I felt that same excitement again with this film. That alone gives me confidence that it will become a blockbuster.
The most challenging part of this film was actually dealing with Buchi. Getting into the three different looks was not difficult because I enjoyed every part of it. The real challenge was bringing what was inside Buchi's mind onto the screen. He never depended on a physical script because the entire film was stored in his head. Translating that vision into reality was the biggest challenge.
Finally, I would like to congratulate Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. At the peak of his career and popularity, he chose to step away from cinema and dedicate himself to public service. Coming from the film industry myself, I feel proud of that decision. I congratulate both Vijay and the people of Tamil Nadu.”
The team is set to celebrate grand pre-release event in Vijayawada tomorrow.
