Amidst this chaos, veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma tried to give a new perspective on this.

Big movies on one side, and independent YouTube reviewers on the other side. Peddi has seen most of it, with some reviewers talking about only the negative aspect of the film, and some targeting it with the choicest of words. However, some alleged that the movie team is throwing copyright strikes on those people. Amidst this chaos, veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma tried to give a new perspective on this.

Varma stated in a video interview that review writers are like ‘rains’ and you cannot blame the rain for getting wet. He stated that when there are rains, either we should stay indoors, use a raincoat, or get drenched; that’s the only option. But you can’t blame the rain and shout at it. The maverick director felt that the whole society gets criticised every single day, including the likes of phones, restaurants, political moves, cricket; everything gets reviewed by the public, so why not films and the film industry?

RGV straightaway stated that producers want to keep the audience blind for the first three days of the release, such that they could make a lot of money. Perhaps that’s the reason they went even to Court to block reviews for three days. He even stated that reviewers are doing a service for the public by asking them to stay away from a movie and save their money, such that they won’t spend unnecessarily on garbage. He says that the minute a ticket is sold, the audience will have the right to speak about the film in public domain.

Will Tollywood buy into this, or keep continuing to attack the reviewers and the whole reviewing system in the name of spoiling the market? We have to see!
