Vishwak Sen Stays Ahead of Ram ; Here's Why
Both Ram and Vishwak belong to the Tier-2 hero category in Tollywood. They are popular among youth audiences and have a strong fan base, but they are still working towards reaching top star status.
In Telugu cinema, it is very common to see directors becoming actors. But it is not easy to see heroes becoming directors. Only a few actors have taken that risk in Tollywood. Now, young hero Ram Pothineni has joined that list.
Ram is now working on a psychological thriller where he is not only acting as the hero but also directing the film. His brother Krishna Pothineni is producing the project. Ram will reportedly play a character named Veera in the movie. This news has surprised many fans because directing a film is not an easy job, especially while acting in it at the same time.
Before Ram, among the current generation heroes, Vishwak Sen already tried this path. Vishwak directed Falaknuma Das early in his career and received good attention for his work. Later, he also directed Dhamki. Now, he is again handling direction for his upcoming film Cult. Vishwak is known for taking bold decisions and trying different kinds of cinema.
Both Ram and Vishwak belong to the Tier-2 hero category in Tollywood. They are popular among youth audiences and have a strong fan base, but they are still working towards reaching top star status. Because of this, many people feel their decision to direct films is a very bold move. Usually, heroes focus only on acting to build their market. But these actors are trying to prove themselves in multiple departments.
Earlier generations also had actor-directors. Pawan Kalyan directed Johnny. Legendary stars N. T. Rama Rao and Krishna also directed several films in their careers.
Still, the number of heroes becoming directors in Tollywood remains very small. That is why Ram and Vishwak’s decisions are creating discussion in the industry.
