If there’s one dynamic that has changed in terms of film viewing by the audience, definitely there are some fandom changes.
If there’s one dynamic that has changed in terms of film viewing by the audience, definitely there are some fandom changes. At the same time, back then, only one or two directors like Ram Gopal Varma and Maniratnam used to enjoy that terrific attention from the audience, but now that list has grown. That’s what even talented actor Rana Daggubati emphasises.
The other day, Rana shared that these days audiences are watching films not on a ‘hero-first’ basis, but only on a ‘director-first’ basis. He stated that people are feeling excited to watch a Rajamouli film, a Nag Ashwin film, a Sandeep Reddy Vanga film or a Prashant Neel film more than running after some heroes and their movies. Well, that’s true because these days, directors’ vision and their creative brilliance in crafting engaging movies are getting terrific attention from the audience.
Though that is true, some star heroes still pull audiences to theatres no matter what the content of the film is, and who is directing the movie. But the younger generation seems to be more of director-centric film fans than hero-centric. That’s how the likes of Christopher Nolan got bigger openings across the world, as it doesn’t matter who stars in his movies.
