Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, hit theaters worldwide on October 10, 2024. This action-packed drama was also released in Telugu and has received mixed reviews.

Interestingly, reports on social media suggest that actor Nani was initially offered the role of the corporate villain, which eventually went to Rana Daggubati. The role, however, had limited screen time and lacked depth. Nani turned down the offer, and the part was then given to Rana. Critics have pointed out that the character didn’t have much scope for development, which made Nani’s decision seem wise in hindsight.

Fans on social media have mixed opinions about Nani’s choice. Some praised him for making the right call, saying he avoided a role with little significance. Initially, some fans criticized him for turning down a big project like Vettaiyan, but now they’re acknowledging that his decision was smart, given the underwritten supporting characters compared to Rajinikanth’s.

In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth plays SP Athiyan, a fearless IPS officer stationed in Kanniyakumari, known for his encounters with criminals. Due to his tough approach, he is nicknamed "Vettaiyan," meaning "The Hunter."

The film also features Manju Warrier as Saranya, a school teacher who stands up for her students' rights, while Amitabh Bachchan portrays Justice Sathyadev, a Supreme Court judge fighting for human rights. The movie highlights the conflict between different views on law enforcement and justice.

Produced by Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan includes music by Anirudh Ravichander and boasts a star-studded cast, including Fahadh Faasil and Dushara Vijayan.
