Like it has been a long time while doing glamour-centric movies in Bollywood Rashmika Mandanna is now picking up content-centric films in the South now. Already, she has Ranabali, which is a period film set in a freedom-fighting backdrop, then an action thriller, Mysa, and now comes this film, which will be the biopic of a legendary singer.

For a long time, Sai Pallavi has been in talks with producers Allu Arvind and Bunny Vasu to play the lead in the supposed legendary Carnatic singer MS Subbulakshmi’s biopic, which is likely to be directed by Gautham Tinnanuri of Jersey and Kingdom fame. However, after Sai Pallavi walked out, the makers have roped in Rashmika Mandanna, as per reports.

With MS Subbulakshmi’s birthday falling on the upcoming September 16th, it’s expected that the first look of the film, featuring Rashmika, might be released. However, there are some reservations being expressed by Tamil folks, as she happens to be a Tamil singer, actress and a legend. With Rashmika being Kannadiga, and the film produced and directed by Telugu folks, some Tamil folks are expressing their doubts over the creative choices.

On the other hand, with movies becoming a pan-India event now, it doesn’t matter who directs and acts, their ethnicity and culture, as long as they stay true to the script.
