The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared actress Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming romantic drama The Girlfriend with a U/A certificate. The film directed by Rahul Ravindran features Dheekshith Shetty as the male lead and is produced by Geetha Arts. The makers announced the news on social media, saying, “It’s a U/A for The Girlfriend. Experience intense drama, emotions and performances on the big screen. Grand Release Worldwide Tomorrow.”
The movie is set to release worldwide on November 7, 2025, and has already created huge excitement among fans. The recently released trailer gives a glimpse of an emotional and intense love story between Bhooma (played by Rashmika) and Vikram (played by Dheekshith).
In the trailer, Bhooma asks Vikram for a break from their relationship, which surprises him. It also flashes back to the time when Vikram proposed marriage saying, “There is an auspicious day after tomorrow. Let’s get married.” However, Bhooma appears unsure about the relationship.
Actress Anu Emmanuel plays an important supporting role. Her character questions Bhooma about her happiness and warns that although Bhooma may be perfect for Vikram, he may not be right for her.
The story explores how Bhooma feels trapped in a toxic relationship with a dominating and suspicious partner. The film portrays her emotional struggle to regain control of her life.
Rashmika Mandanna has expressed deep trust in director Rahul Ravindran, saying he brought emotional depth and heart into every frame of the film. In a birthday post to the director, she mentioned that The Girlfriend allowed her to see him as a “friend, mentor, and lifelong partner in creativity.”
Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film features music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and cinematography by Krishnan Vasant.
