Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja recently scored a good success with Irumudi. After facing several failures, the actor finally got a much needed hit. However, his decisions after this success are now creating a discussion in the film industry. It looks like Ravi Teja may be returning to his old ways of demanding high remuneration.
Ravi Teja faced a series of failures before Irumudi. During that period, there were reports that his high remuneration was becoming a problem for producers. Even when his films failed at the box office, his remuneration did not come down much. This became a major concern for filmmakers.
Later Ravi Teja reportedly decided to work on a profit-sharing model instead of taking a fixed, high salary. This decision helped him continue working with producers and reduced some of the financial pressure on them.
The success of Irumudi proved beneficial for the actor. By choosing profit sharing, he reportedly earned good returns from the film. This move also helped improve his image among producers and industry circles.
However situation seems to have changed after the success of Irumudi. According to reports, Ravi Teja is now asking for a much higher remuneration for his upcoming films.
He was reportedly committed to two films with producer Dil Raju and director Laxman on a profit sharing basis before Irumudi was released. But the projects are now facing uncertainty because of the reported differences over remuneration.
For Thulabharam, Ravi Teja is reportedly set to receive around Rs. 40 crore. This deal also includes a major share in the Nizam theatrical rights. If the film becomes a big hit, the actor could earn even more.
The main concern is the changing business of Telugu cinema. Digital deals and the Hindi market for Ravi Teja's films have reportedly become weaker. At the same time, production costs are increasing.
Thulabharam is also expected to have a big budget, with a large supporting cast. Therefore, the film needs to perform very well in theatres to recover its investment.
Ravi Teja's success with Irumudi is a positive sign. But returning to high remuneration demands could put extra pressure on producers. So he have to rethink about this issue.
