Are You Angry With Prabhas’ Rebel?

J Bhagavan and Pulla Rao are two passionate producers who have made some big-ticket films a long time ago. While Bhagavan is the producer of films like Jamba Lakidi Pamba back in the 90s, Pulla Rao later joined him, and they have bankrolled the likes of Gopichand’s Sankam, Gautham Nanda and Sai Dharam Tej’s Republic. However, the biggest loss venture they have ever made is Prabhas’ Rebel, which is directed by choreographer Lawrence.

In a recent interview, Bhagawan and Pulla Rao revealed that they are not angry with Lawrence now, but during the time of the release, their mindset was totally frustrating. “We have made agreements that the film will be shot within a stipulated budget. However, the film got double the budget, and it became a headache for us. The film got released only due to Prabhas’ interference”, said Bhagawan and Pulla Rao, adding that the film has caused more losses, which they had anticipated halfway through the shooting itself.

“By the time we reached halfway through the shoot, the total budget we thought of spending for the whole film got spent. As producers, we have gauged that the film will be a big loss venture for us. However, we never let the smile on our faces drop. The energy we had during the muhurat event of the film, we continued the same on the last day of the shoot too,” they further articulated.

Well, most films end up as flops not because the content is disliked by the audience. Films that are disliked also make money, and profits when made with the right budgets. But films that are cost-failures can’t make any single penny as profit, whether they are a hit or flop.
