Actor Vijay Sethupathi recently made an interesting request to actor and politician Joseph Vijay. He asked the Tamil Nadu government and CM actor Vijay to think about launching its own OTT platform for regional content. His comments are now getting attention on social media and in the film industry.
Vijay Sethupathi spoke about how OTT platforms became very popular. According to him, many OTT platforms are currently facing a slowdown. Subscriber growth is not as strong as before, and several companies are becoming careful about spending huge amounts on content. He mentioned that this is the right time for governments and regional industries to think about their own platforms.
The actor also referred to an earlier suggestion made by legendary actor Kamal Haasan. Kamal Haasan had previously spoken about the importance of having a dedicated platform for Tamil content. Vijay Sethupathi supported this idea and said a Tamil Nadu-owned OTT platform could help local filmmakers, artists, and technicians.
According to him, such a platform could give more opportunities to small films and regional stories that sometimes struggle to get proper releases on big OTT services. It could also help preserve Tamil culture and language through cinema and digital entertainment.
Interestingly, Vijay Sethupathi and Vijay had earlier shared screen space in the blockbuster film Master. The movie became a huge success and fans loved seeing both stars together on screen.
Now, Vijay Sethupathi’s latest comments have started fresh discussions in the Tamil film industry.
