Renu Desai’s journey in films feels like sailing through unpredictable waters, sometimes calm, sometimes stormy, and always full of surprises. The actress, who Telugu audiences remember from her earlier days, made a comeback after nearly 20 years in Ravi Teja’s Tiger Nageswara Rao, playing social reformer Hemalatha Lavanam. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing, she faced criticism online, and, as she says, none of the trolls ever came back to apologize.

“When I did Tiger Nageswara Rao, people had a lot to say,” Renu shared. “They wrote that I would act in any film. But it’s been two years, and I haven’t signed anything. Those who talk won’t come to apologize. I love acting, sure, but it’s not everything for me. I started at 15. People think I only care about money, but I just spend carefully. If I had done films continuously, I’d probably have a much bigger name by now.”

Despite the hurdles, she says the roles are coming now, and they’re interesting ones. She’s getting offers in female-focused films and has agreed to play a mother-in-law in an upcoming comedy about in-laws. “It’ll start soon,” she said, clearly excited. Renu seems to be picking roles that feel meaningful rather than just keeping busy.

Renu is also exploring her spiritual side and may take up sannyas in the future. She says life isn’t just about acting or fame, it’s about balance and staying true to herself.
