The previous BRS government in Telangana stood away from government oriented film awards, but that is not the case under the Congress government. Chief minister Revanth Reddy is particular on holding government awards event very frequently.
After having held the collective gather awards for the last decade in 2025, the Revanth Reddy administration has issued the notification for 2025 awards already. The Telangana Film Development Corporation Limited (TFDC) has issued a notification to organise the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards (TGFA) 2025 for films certified between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025.
Entries are invited from film producers and government agencies worldwide for Telugu-language films across a wide range of categories, including feature films, debut films, films on national integration, environment, heritage and history, social message films, wholesome entertainment, animation, special effects, children’s films, documentaries, short films, individual awards for artists and technicians, books and critical articles on Telugu cinema, and feature films in Urdu language.
This would essentially mean that the 2025 edition of Telugu film awards are going to be held under the name of Gaddar film awards, much like the previous year edition as well. This is a very proactive measure from the Revanth Reddy administration to hold the film awards event at such a short turnaround and also walks the talk about prioritising the film industry.
