Change has a funny way of sneaking up on people, and it seems Tollywood directors Ram Gopal Varma and Puri Jagannadh are feeling it. RGV, who spent the last few years mostly in Hyderabad running his office Den, is reportedly moving back to Mumbai for good. He’s got a film with Manoj Bajpai already shooting, Sarkar 4 with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan going to sets soon, and a couple more Hindi films in the pipeline. Looks like Mumbai is calling him back hard.

RGV had lived in Mumbai for decades, making Bollywood films, but after Rakta Charitra, he split his time between Mumbai and Hyderabad. Post-COVID, he stayed mainly in Hyderabad, focusing on Telugu projects. Now, word is, he’s packing up again, this time for a longer stint. Fans are curious, how will this shift affect his style, his collaborations? Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, Puri Jagannadh is doing almost the opposite. Known to have lived in Hyderabad for years, he moved to Mumbai during Liger’s shoot, settled there for a while, but now he’s back in Hyderabad. He’s gearing up for an untitled pan-India movie starring Vijay Sethupathi, Samyuktha, and Tabu, produced by him and Charmme Kaur under Puri Connects. Shooting started already in June 2025, and the release is planned for November. Being back in Hyderabad gives him a chance to manage things closely, keep the project tight.

So, in a twist, the guru is heading to Mumbai while the sishya returns to Hyderabad. Both of them show that instead of taking long breaks, keeping busy, moving around, and trying new things keeps them sharp. RGV diving back into Bollywood, Puri focusing on a pan-India film at home, it’s a neat swap. Makes you realize, sometimes a little chaos and change is exactly what creativity needs.
