Suchitra shared this incident in her autobiography Drama Queen. She wrote that she jokingly asked Ram Gopal Varma if he would marry her. He got scared and asked her to meet him in his office. He wanted to stop her from thinking about marriage.

Suchitra sent him a message saying, "Will you marry me?" This made Ram Gopal Varma panic. In her book, she revealed that he told her he only liked women for their looks. He said he was not interested in their intelligence.

In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Suchitra confirmed that it was just a joke. She said no one could seriously think about marrying Ram Gopal Varma. She also mentioned that he was a nice man. However, his scared reaction to her message made the situation even funnier.

She recalled that he took her words very seriously. He called her to his office and explained that she was a good person. He told her that he was not the right man for her. She then assured him that it was only a joke.

Suchitra worked with Ram Gopal Varma in films like My Wife’s Murder and Rann. She was married to Shekhar Kapur from 1999 to 2007. Their marriage ended on a bitter note. She later called Shekhar unfaithful.
