Garividi Lakshmi is one of the hit Telugu films in recent times. Starring Anandi in the lead role, the film is a biopic that became a hit. However, the film is under debate for portraying music director RP Patnaik in a poor light. The film accuses the music director of stealing Lakshmi's tunes, promising her an offer to sing, then turning her down. In light of this, RP himself has shared his version of the story.

RP Patnaik has given an interview to a YouTube channel where he commented that the film's director did not verify the facts. Sharing his story, RP said that the director must be responsible while making a biopic. RP Patnaik clarified that he has not copied anyone's songs, but the folk songs he used in his films are a part of his childhood and growing-up days. He accuses the director of not doing the right job by blindly sharing only one version of the story and not understanding the other versions.

RP Patnaik is being branded negatively after the release of the film, with many people asking him if he has copied the work of others. Usually, when a biopic is being made, people either change names of the living persons if they have to portray a controversial scene or situation. But, this seems to be not the case with Garividi Lakshmi.

Now that RP's side of the story is made public, we have to see if the makers of Garividi Lakshmi react again on the same.
