Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan might lose his family’s ancestral property in Bhopal. The property belonged to Nawab Hamidullah Khan Saif’s ancestor. Its estimated value is around Rs 15,000 crore. Recent legal rulings have created uncertainty over its ownership.

The property includes several landmarks. Some of these are the Flag Staff House, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace and Dar-Us-Salam. The issue stems from the Enemy Property Act. This law allows the government to take over properties of those who moved to Pakistan during Partition.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has made a key decision. In December 2024, the court lifted a stay order on the property. Justice Vivek Agarwal asked all parties to submit representations within 30 days. However it is unclear if they have done so.

Local authorities are waiting for more clarity. Bhopal Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh stated that further action depends on the High Court's clarification.

The Enemy Property Act was amended in 2017. This amendment prevents descendants of people who moved to Pakistan or China during Partition from reclaiming these properties. Due to this law, Saif Ali Khan and his family may lose their claim to the property.
