Saif's elder son Ibrahim Ali Khan acted swiftly and took his bleeding father to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw, as no car was immediately available.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Bandra residence in Mumbai during the early hours of January 16, 2025. The actor sustained six stab injuries, including one dangerously close to his spine. Saif's elder son Ibrahim Ali Khan acted swiftly and took his bleeding father to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw, as no car was immediately available. This quick decision ensured that Saif received timely medical attention.
Doctors at Lilavati Hospital performed surgery, confirming that Saif is now out of danger and under observation. According to Dr. Uttamani, the hospital’s COO, Saif suffered two deep wounds, two intermediate and two minor injuries. A neurosurgeon was also involved due to the critical location of one of the wounds. Saif’s family including his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan is safe as confirmed in an official statement.
Investigations suggest the attack was part of a planned robbery. Forensic teams have collected key evidence, including fingerprints, from the crime scene. Speaking to the media, a forensic officer said, “We have collected the fingerprints from the spot; the rest our senior officer will brief.”
Police suspect that the attacker may be someone familiar with one of the housekeepers. After questioning all the staff, it appears that the attacker might have gained access with help from someone inside. CCTV footage showed no suspicious entries within two hours of the attack indicating the intruder entered earlier and waited for the right moment.
The incident has sparked safety concerns across Mumbai. Actor Pooja Bhatt expressed feeling unsafe in the city calling for increased police security in Bandra. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also extended prayers for Saif’s recovery urging strict action against the attacker.
