The team of 'Salaar' earlier planned to release the movie on 28th September and announced it officially. But the makers had a change of heart and decided to arrive on 22nd December. Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki' was releasing on 21st December and it was announced a year ago. But, the team of 'Salaar' went ahead with their decision feeling confident about their output.

Prabhas got a huge craze in North after 'Baahubali' but the next three movies turned out to be flops. This is why, his market went down a bit and SRK being on top of his game, people expected 'Dunki' to dominate the North market while 'Salaar' would get huge collections down South. But 'Dunki' did not meet the expectations and 'Salaar' managed to get a hit talk. With a hit talk, 'Salaar' would have made massive money but the movie's collections were hindered by the bad plan of the makers.

Had 'Salaar' been released on 28th September as planned before, the hit talk would have resulted in huge collections without a doubt. The competition with 'Dunki' definitely affected the collections of this pan-Indian flick. In major cities, 'Dunki' got the first preference and there was an equal distribution of theatres in other places between SRK's film and 'Salaar' which resulted in the collections getting affected.

The movie got 31 crores in the first two days and it may mint around 50 crores nett by the weekend. Prasanth Neel delayed the film's release due to reshoots and VFX. The movie would have definitely neared the 100 crore mark had the film been released on 28th September with less competition. Also, the opening day collections would have been much closer to Rajamouli's magnum opus 'RRR'.
