Will Samantha’s Action Work After Glamour And Comedy Failed?

Senior heroine Samantha Ruth Prabhu is at a crucial crossroads in her career, while her personal life is up and running again after her recent second marriage to director Raj Nidumoru. After experimenting across genres in recent years, she failed to taste success. Here’s a commentary on that.

With films like Shaakuntalam, Samantha experimented with her glamour dose yet again, but that hasn’t worked out like it did during the days of Dookudu and S/o Satyamurthy. Later, she tried to do comedy kind of villainy with the film Subham, but that too didn’t leave an impact. These films not only underperformed but sparked debates about her choices.

And now, Samantha is coming up with the film Maa Inti Bangaram, her second production venture, in which she will be seen as the lead. Buzz has it that the film will feature her doing sare-clad action, holding a gun, and chasing goons. Earlier, when Samantha tried action through the web series, Citadel: Honey-Bunny, it didn’t work out much. Her only respite with action is the one she has done in The Family Man 2. We have to see if this latest saree-clad actioner will give her a break from the string of flops.

Many senior heroines are making a strong comeback these days, while some are struggling. The likes of Nayanthara and Trisha are in the first gang, while the Kajal Aggarwal and Anushka slip into the second category. We have to see where Samantha would slip into.
