May 2026: Deciding Month For Three Stars

Tollywood’s May 2026 might quietly decide a few careers. After a dull summer with delays everywhere, this month is carrying a different kind of pressure with medium-range stars testing their lucks with films that range from low to high budgets. There are three stars, especially, including Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nikhil Siddhartha, and Tarun Bhaskar, who are looking forward to stunning the box office.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu: It’s been a while since this Tamil actress, who has shot to huge fame in Telugu, has done a straight Telugu film. Apart from her divorce, second marriage, and some photoshoots, films never worked out, including the hyped Shubam earlier. She’s now coming up with Maa Inti Bangaram, written by her husband, directed by Nandini Reddy, and she herself turned producer too. As the film is set for a May 15th release, we have to see if the near-40-year-old actress will make a strong comeback, that too as a solo star.

Nikhil: After Karthikeya 2, this Happy Days hero’s graph went down quickly. Spy and Appudo Ippudo Eppudo didn’t help to stabilise his box office potential. Now he’s coming up with a career-high budget film, Swayambhu, playing a warrior in a period setup. Likely to release in the last weekend of May, the film is a must-win situation for Nikhil, as otherwise his career will be pushed into a tricky spot.

Tharun Bhascker, the actor: As a director, he has credibility. As an actor, Tarun is yet to prove himself. His latest attempt, Gayapadda Simham, is hitting cinemas on May 1st, and already the director has worked hard for promotions, quite creatively, bringing huge attention. But the question is simple. Will the audience accept him as a lead? Because this phase can’t go on for too long. At some point, it’s coming out that he should focus on directing rather than acting.

For these actors, this month is not just about one release. It’s about where they stand going forward.
