The Sankranthi 2026 race of Telugu films readying to hit the Box Office has just begun as several big films have locked their censor certification dates, a key step before theatrical release. With the festival season approaching, producers are racing against time to finish post-production and secure clean certificates for their films. Let’s have a look.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, aka #MegaMSG is set to complete its censor formalities as the makers locked January 2nd as the Censor screening date. This indicates that the final copy is locked and the Sankranthi crowd-pleaser is heading for January 12th release as planned. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the film has Nayanthara and Catherine Tresa as female leads.
Next comes Raviteja’s Bharta Mahaseyulaku Wignyapthi, which will be hitting cinemas on January 13th, and is also ready with the first copy of their movie. The film is likely to get censored either on January 5th or 6th as Raviteja and his heroines Ashika Ranganath and Dimple Hayathi are all set to entertain in this Kishore Tirumala directorial.
Already the other Sankranthi biggie, the Jan 9th releasing film, Superstar Prabhas’ Raja Saab got its Censor formalities completed and was awarded a U/A certificate. Other films like Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari and Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju haven’t locked their Censor screening date yet, while the first copies are almost ready.
Sankranthi is always a lucrative season for Telugu cinema to thrive, and big films catering to the holiday season is a ritual that’s been working out for years. Hope the best films win.
