Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam Changed The Game For Tollywood?
Firstly, producer, Dil Raju, right thing by not going for a ticket price hikes for this film. He released the film with standard ticket prices that we were already in effect in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
In the recent years, it has started to become increasingly common for the makers of superstar films to apply for ticket price hikes, and additional shows. There was this constant desire to make maximum amount of money in the first weekend itself through elevated prices and added shows.
However, there is one film that has changed this game for Tollywood, and it is Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. The film has virtually set a new track for the rest of the Tollywood to follow in terms of pricing model and additional shows in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Firstly, producer, Dil Raju, right thing by not going for a ticket price hikes for this film. He released the film with standard ticket prices that we were already in effect in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This meant that this film turned out to be the more economically feasible option for the Sankranti festival audience, which intern increased the footfalls. Also, there were no additional shows for the film.
What this phenomena implies is that this Venkatesh and Anil Ravipudi film, despite being just regional film could cross ₹130 crore at the box office just through normal prices and normal shows. It has shown everyone that big revenues can be generated by films, even through normal prices and no additional benefits.
This could perhaps be considered as a measuring scale for non-superstar films in Tollywood. Henceforth, as nominal prices are attracting bigger crowds during the right season. This is the only way non-mainstream pan Indian films can survive at the domestic box office, amidst decreasing interest from audience to come to theatres in view of high prices.
