Unwanted Surprise With Sankranthiki Vasthunnam OTT

Venkatesh Daggubati and director Anil Ravipudi delivered a historical blockbuster, this Sankranthi festival season in the form of Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam. The film reportedly collected over ₹300 crore gross at the global box office. It was projected as the highest grossing regional film of all time in Tollywood.

Coming to the topic, now, the film had its OTT and satellite release simultaneously yesterday March 1, and there was a fair bit of unwanted surprise associated with the same.

While the theatrical version of the film had a runtime of two hours and 24 minutes, the OTT version was trimmed down further by eight minutes. The Potti version, which is now streaming on ZEE5 has a runtime of just two hours and 16 minutes, which perhaps indicates that the film was trimmed by another eight minutes, which is strange.

The film was mostly enjoyed in the theatres for the comedy quotient, and if anything The makers were expected to add additional footage to the OTT version on ZEE5. But the exact opposite happened as they went on to further trim down the final copy by eight minutes, which isn’t exactly the plan.

However, there was one pleasant surprise for the television version that was also screened yesterday, and this is regarding the Godari Gattu song. This song was played, not once, but twice during the television screening. This is perhaps due to the popularity of this song and the way in which it grabbed the attention of the family audience.
