After doing only commercial comedy films for a while, talented Tamil hero Sivakarthikeyan changed course to content-driven movies. He is coming up with Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi, a film that lacked no buzz till yesterday, but the trailer changed it all. The intensity and serious subject of 1965, when Tamils revolted for imposing Hindi on them, changed the way people look at the film.
What has dampened the excitement for Telugu fans is that the film Parasakthi won’t find a release in Telugu on the exact same day as Tamil, which happens to be January 10th. Due to a lack of theatres as films like Raja Saab, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, Bharta Mahaseyulaku Wignyapthi, Nari Nari Naduma Murari, and Anaganaga Oka Raju are hitting cinemas in Telugu circuits, Parasakthi didn’t find takers.
Going by the trailer, however, many felt that the Telugu version on Jan 10th would have gotten major crowds to the film. Right now, reports are doing the rounds that the Telugu version of Parasakthi will hit cinemas only on January 23rd. Adding to this uncertainty, the film’s Tamil version is also not getting a smooth release because of the unfinished Censor certification.
Due to the Hindi-language related story, the Censor Board referred the film to the revising committee in Mumbai to take a final decision. Though the release is set for Jan 10th, there’s no clarity over the censoring of the movie yet.
