A noticeable change is happening in the film industry. Many senior and popular heroines are no longer in a hurry to sign several movies every year. Instead, they are becoming more selective and giving greater importance to good stories, strong characters and interesting filmmakers.
This trend can be seen in Bollywood, Tollywood and even Hollywood. Top actresses who already have successful careers now have the freedom to choose projects according to their interest rather than accepting every big offer.
In Bollywood, actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas have followed different paths while becoming selective about their films. They are not trying to remain constantly visible on the big screen. Quality has become more important than the number of releases.
Kareena Kapoor Khan, for example, has shown that an actress does not need many releases every year to remain relevant. She has taken up different kinds of roles and has also explored OTT projects. Priyanka Chopra has concentrated more on international opportunities, while Deepika Padukone is balancing movies with other important commitments.
A similar change can be noticed in Tollywood too. Senior actresses such as Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Kajal Aggarwal are not appearing in a large number of films just for the sake of staying busy. They are also looking for roles and stories that offer something interesting.
Nayanthara is another example of an actress who has become highly selective. Rather than simply looking at remuneration, established actresses now have the luxury of asking whether a project is worth their time and effort.
Interestingly, even several actresses in Hollywood are following this approach. After reaching a certain level in their careers, many top stars prefer meaningful characters and challenging scripts over simply increasing their film count.
This is a positive change for the industry. For a long time, remuneration and the number of releases were major factors for stars. Now, experience is giving senior actresses more confidence to wait for the right story.
The audience may also benefit from this change. When an actress chooses a project because she genuinely believes in the story, there is a better chance of seeing memorable performances.
