Talented actor Shivaji, who shone as a hero back in the 90s, has recently proven his mettle with the film “Court” and is back in the spotlight.

Ever since, Shivaji is enjoying the newfound stardom as he turns up as a guest at many events, including his upcoming film Dhandora and others. The other day, at one such event, he made some controversial statements, stirring up a hornet’s nest.

Apparently, Shivaji stated that heroines should consider the fact that they should dress fully covered in a saree. In a bizarre reference, he said that they should not wear outfits that showcase their ‘saamaan’, making an obvious reference to body parts.

He later added more fuel to the controversy, saying that when heroines turn up in glam outfits, people feel like ‘Daridrapu M**nda turned up like this’. This didn’t even go well, and the usual champion of women’s rights, singer Chinmayi, responded this morning for the same.

“Telugu Actor Sivaji doles out unnecessary advice to Actresses using slurs like ‘Daridrapu Munda’, saying they need to wear Saris to cover their ‘Saamaan’ - a word incels use. Actor Shivaji played a villain in a fantastic film and ended up becoming the hero for incel boys. The point is - these are professional spaces where Shivaji is using words like ‘Daridrapu Munda’. (sic)” she wrote, on her X Page. She further advised Shivaji to follow what he preaches.

“He himself wears Jeans and Hoodie. He should wear only Dhotis and follow Indian culture. Wear bottu and if he is married wear the Kankanam and Mettelu to signify he is married,” she concluded.

The controversy might not end anytime soon, unless Shivaji issues an apology first.
