Why Was This Mirzapur Star Trolled So Much?

Shweta Tripathi, one of the most loved actors from the popular web series Mirzapur, recently spoke about her journey with the show and the trolling she faced over her character, Golu Gupta.

Since its first season in 2018, Mirzapur has become one of India’s most successful streaming series. Shweta’s character, Golu Gupta, was introduced as a simple and intelligent college student. Over the years, the character went through major changes and became stronger, tougher, and more involved in the violent world of Mirzapur.

While many fans appreciated this transformation, some viewers felt that the change in Golu’s personality happened too quickly. They believed the innocent student turning into a fearless fighter was not fully convincing. Because of this, Shweta received criticism and trolling on social media.

Talking about the experience, Shweta said, "Mirzapur is pure love for me." She also shared that Golu Gupta remains one of her favorite characters. Despite the mixed reactions from audiences, she feels grateful for the opportunity to play the role.

The actress explained that portraying Golu helped her grow professionally. According to her, the character challenged her as a performer and allowed her to explore different emotions and situations. She believes the role played an important part in shaping her acting career.

Apart from Mirzapur, Shweta is also focusing on theatre. She recently returned to the stage after nearly ten years. The actress is currently performing in a play called External Affairs, which has already completed two successful shows.

Speaking about her comeback to theatre, Shweta said the experience has been exciting and fulfilling. The play also features her husband, Chaitanya Sharma, who is popularly known by his stage name SlowCheeta. Working together on stage has made the experience even more special for the couple.
