In fact, the release of “Sigma”, which was directed by CM Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay, was set for July 31st earlier, but then there was no confirmation of the same. With Vijay’s Jana Nayagan likely to end up as a flop, surely next Friday will be super free, and that will give an uncanny advantage to Jason Sanjay’s movie. But then, things are different when trade circuits are planning the releases.
Though many thought that “Sigma” would hit cinemas on August 7th, along with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s DC and Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju, the makers of the movie felt that it’s not the right time to release their film. Hence, they moved the movie to September 18th, as per Tamil media folks. Whether in Tollywood or Kollywood, the second and third weeks of September are empty, as most films move to the nearby Dasara season of October to get more footfalls due to the holiday advantage. Maybe for that reason, Sigma chose the 3rd week of September for the release.
Guess what, when Vijay’s Jana Nayagan flopped, it was better to cash in on the next immediate Friday as Jason Sanjay would get both attention and sympathy too. As he’s not seen with his father anywhere after their mother filed for divorce, surely that would have given him another advantage. Many are wondering why Jason Sanjay is missing out on this golden opportunity.
Directed by Jason Sanjay, Sigma is produced by Lyca Productions and features Sandeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah in the leads, while Thaman scored the music.
