Did 'Skanda' Team Drop Pan-India Plans?
Though 'Skanda' has the advantage in Telugu states as it has a big hero and a big director, it all depends on the content.
As soon as 'Salaar' got postponed, the team of 'Skanda' decided to occupy 28th September. They announced officially that they are not coming on 15th September and went to the end of this month. They wanted to have a solo release date and insiders say that it is Boyapati who made this decision but not the producer.
But 'Chandramukhi 2' which was supposed to release on 15th too decided to arrive on 28th September. This way, 'Skanda' team missed the chance of having a two week free run at the box office. They wanted to move away from 'Chandramukhi 2' but Lawrence's film followed 'Skanda' like a shadow. On top that, Srikanth Addala's 'Pedha Kapu – 1' is also releasing on the same day. Now, it has become a three horse race.
Though 'Skanda' has the advantage in Telugu states as it has a big hero and a big director, it all depends on the content. But it can be assured that the collections will be split in the initial days. Sources say that the business is still not done in areas like East, West, Vizag and Orissa areas. But the producer has no issues since he also got table profits as per reports. The non-theatrical rights brought in a lot of money which makes things easy for theatrical rights.
But the makers started this project as a pan-Indian film. Initially, they released two songs in multiple languages. But they are not promoting the film on the same level now. Ram is yet to tour cities across South and North. With only 8 days left for release, we need to see if team 'Skanda' shifts gears in terms of promotions and release it on a pan-Indian level or not.
