The South Indian film industry is taking important steps to work together for a better future. On May 10, 2026, the South Indian Film Producers Association (SIFPA) held its second official meeting in Hyderabad. Producers and representatives from the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada film industries attended the meeting and discussed several major issues related to cinema.

Many well-known producer councils and film guilds participated in the discussions. The main focus of the meeting was to find solutions for the growing challenges faced by the industry. Topics like rising production costs, theatre business, OTT release timing, workforce management, and film financing were discussed in detail.

The members also spoke about the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between theatrical releases and OTT platforms. With digital streaming becoming more popular, producers believe proper planning is needed so that both theatres and OTT companies can benefit together.

Another important point discussed was the need for better coordination between the South Indian film industries. Producers felt that stronger unity among Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada industries would help improve business opportunities and reduce unnecessary problems. They also stressed the importance of transparency and stability in the film ecosystem.

SIFPA said it wants to create a positive and united environment for everyone connected to cinema. This includes producers, distributors, theatre owners, exhibitors, and buyers of film rights. The association believes that working together can help the South Indian film industry grow stronger in the coming years.

The meeting also highlighted the need for common policy decisions and better communication among all sectors of the industry. Representatives agreed that regular discussions like these are necessary to solve issues and improve cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, SIFPA announced that its next gathering will be held in Cochin on June 14, 2026. More discussions and important decisions are expected to take place during the upcoming meeting.
