The market for South Indian films has grown leaps and bounds over the past decade. They have gotten a strong hold on the Indian box office and four films out of the five highest-collecting films at the domestic box office belong to Southern films.

Interestingly, three of them are from the Telugu Film Industry. In the domestic market, 'Baahubali 2' is the highest-collecting film with a gross of over 1400 crores. It is almost impossible to beat for the next couple of years despite the hiked ticket prizes. Rajamouli's magnum opus is followed by Kannada's blockbuster action flick 'KGF 2' which got more than 1000 crores in the domestic market.

It is Rajamouli once again who made it to the list with his 'RRR'. Apart from getting international fame and awards, the movie got 944 crores in India alone and it is followed by the recently released 'Kalki' which minted 772 crores till now and may touch the 800 crores mark soon. Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' is the only film to make this list and it got 761 crores in the domestic market. Ironically, it is written and directed by a Tamil director Atlee. People who watched will say that 'Jawan' is a mixture of Shankar's films or even Atlee's own Tamil films with Vijay.

Though it is a tough ask for anyone to cross 'Baahubali 2', many say that Bollywood should try and get more films into this list in the coming days. Let us see if it happens or not.
