Hollywood History in India: Spider-Man Scripts Unthinkable!

Something pretty extraordinary has happened in Indian cinema now, and this has a lot to do with the latest Hollywood blockbuster Spiderman Brand New Day. This film has scripted a new piece of history in the Indian market for Hollywood films.

Previously, Hollywood witness iconic blockbusters like Avatar and Avengers in India, which could collect in the vicinity of ₹400 crore gross here.

But for the first time in the history of Indian cinema an English film has collected more than ₹500 at the domestic box office. This has happened with the latest instalment of the Spiderman franchise as the film has completed its second weekend, and it has collected a total of ₹528 crore gross till now.

Earlier we saw films from the Avatar and Avengers franchise, which could collect more than ₹450 crore at the Indian ticket counters in their full run.

But no one expected, an English film would be able to collect more than ₹500 crore in India, and this has been made possible by the Spiderman franchise now.

The best thing about this franchise from the first part was that the earlier films were also released on a big scale in India for the last couple of decades. This helped in cultivating a cult following for this superhero character, and it is reflecting in the massive revenues now.

It has to be seen where this film would end up its final run in India as a possible ₹600 crore mark is also not too far from now.

In a span of few days, Hollywood has produced two blockbusters like the Odyssey and Spiderman in India so this could ultimately be great sings for Hollywood in the Indian market.
