Highlight: Mahesh’s Fight With Ravan’s Brother
Already, Rajamouli showcased glimpses of his Ramayana in the title-announcement teaser. Here’s more to it.
Even though already Dangal fame director Nitesh Tiwari is making “Ramayan” as the biggest fantasy film India and the world has ever seen, SS Rajamouli is making sure that his visualisation of the Hindu epic in “Varanasi” will be quite stunning. Already, Rajamouli showcased glimpses of his Ramayana in the title-announcement teaser. Here’s more to it.
Of course, Ramayana will focus on the mighty war between Lord Rama and Ravana, and how the evil king’s brothers like Kumbhakarna fought alongside him, while Vibheeshana backstabs him for the sake of Dharma. Then comes Rajamouli’s vision, as we are hearing that Varanasi will feature the epic battle between Rama and Kumbhakarna, and those visuals will be next level. Usually, every Ramayana movie wouldn’t showcase this battle as a bigger one, but in Rajamouli’s movie, this will be the bigger one, they say.
Well, as the story of Varanasi oscillates from present-day Varanasi to that of Kenya and then to Treta Yuga’s Ramayana, many are wondering what link Rajamouli is building up in the movie for the Indian audience to feel an epic feel inside theatres. Already, the visuals shown in the title teaser, where a huge group of the Vanara army is climbing a big creature and Lord Rama is aiming his target, are said to be from this battle only.
Varanasi is set for an April 7, 2027 release, and unlike other Rajamouli movies that were kept in the making for years and postponed many times, this time there is no such lapse, and the film is hitting on time.
