Parasakthi director Sudha Kongara Prasad has openly criticised the aggressive behaviour of a section of actor Vijay’s fans.;
Tamil film maker Sudha Kongara had her new release in the form of Parashakthi, which has Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. This film was supposed to release in competition with Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan. But that did not happen as Vijay’s film got postponed to a later date.
Coming to the topic now, Sudha has pointed out that her film is being irrationally targeted by Vijay’s fans.
Parasakthi director Sudha Kongara Prasad has openly criticised the aggressive behaviour of a section of actor Vijay’s fans, accusing them of indulging in rowdyism and goonism against her upcoming film. The filmmaker said the issue goes far beyond routine online criticism and has turned into a coordinated attempt to intimidate and silence creative voices.
Speaking about the controversy, Sudha stated that filmmakers today are not just competing at the box office but are also forced to defend their work from hostile fan groups.
She alleged that her film Parasakthi has been deliberately targeted through abusive messages, smear campaigns and constant trolling, creating an unhealthy atmosphere around its release. According to her, such behaviour reflects a dangerous trend where blind fan worship crosses the line into harassment.
Sudha emphasised that criticism of cinema is natural and even necessary, but intimidation and threats cannot be justified in the name of fandom. She said creative freedom is being slowly eroded when filmmakers are pressured by aggressive fan bases who refuse to tolerate differing narratives or viewpoints.
The controversy has sparked a wider debate within the film industry, with many expressing concern over rising fan aggression. Several filmmakers and artists have voiced support for Sudha Kongara, calling for respect, restraint and a more mature culture of film appreciation.
