The Met Gala 2026 has always been about excess, drama, and statements. An invitation-only charity fundraiser that’s hosted by New York city’s Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute every year, on the first Monday of May, is known for some terrific appearances from various celebrities, business people and others, from all over the world.
This year, while the likes of Vijay Varma stunned at the Met Gala 2026 in a simple dhoti and shirt outfit, then comes the likes of Hyderabad’s richest man Megha Krishna Reddy’s wife Sudha Reddy, who has showcased what wealth actually means. Let’s start with the headline number. ₹142 crore. That’s the value of the necklace she wore. Not styling. Not exaggeration. Real.
Featuring a 550-carat rare tanzanite at the centre of it, famously called the “Queen of Merelani”, the necklace has the Victorian-style diamond setting too. Add to that a 40-carat emerald ring and a 30-carat polki diamond ring, all from her personal collection. While most celebs wear borrowed glamour, Sudha Reddy just stunned all with the power of true wealth.
She wore a gown titled “Tree of Life”, designed by Manish Malhotra, and featuring the traditional Telugu Kalamkari influenced work all over it. Blended with zardozi and resham embroidery, the dress has motifs like Kalpavriksha, parrots, Jammi tree, Tangedu flowers, sun and moon. It’s coming out that around 90 artisans worked for 3,400+ hours to get the dress ready.
