Buzz: Sithara Putting Suriya At Risk With August Plans

Going through a rough patch in his career at the moment, Tamil hero Suriya is looking forward to score at least one big success in Telugu after years, and hence signed his first direct Telugu movie, Viswanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. Regarding the release plans of the movie, it’s coming out that the Telugu production house Sithara Entertainment is putting the Suriya starrer at a big risk.

In fact, Viswanath And Sons was initially planned for a July release. But now, strong industry talk suggests the film may be pushed into August due to production delays and release planning confusion. And honestly, that possibility itself is raising eyebrows in trade circles. Because August is already a battlefield in the making with seasoned stars taking the edge.

On one side, there is a massive buzz that Jailer 2 starring Superstar Rajinikanth, could target Independence Day weekend. The first part itself became a phenomenon during the same season. On the other side, Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947, mounted on a huge scale under Aamir Khan’s production it coming from the Hindi arena. And just within a week arrives Nani’s The Paradise, which is already carrying strong hype because of the hero’s look and Aya Sher song. Now the question is, can a soft emotional drama like Viswanath And Sons survive this?

Even Suriya is not in top form right now to withstand such competition. The actor has been struggling with back-to-back disappointments, and even his upcoming May 14th release Karuppu currently looks like a routine commercial film only. So maybe the production should wait for right solo and ideal date, rather than entering into August fray, is what trade experts say.
